The call for abstracts for the next EuHEA Conference, which will take place on July 5-8, 2022 in Oslo, Norway, is now open. The theme of the conference will be ‘Health economics for sustainable welfare systems’, but submissions from all areas of health economics are welcome.

We are delighted to announce that the 3rd Ireland Masterclass in Health Economics, postponed in 2020 due to the pandemic, will now go ahead in person in Dublin March 14th to March 18th 2022.

The event will be co-hosted by University College Dublin (UCD) and the Economic and Social Research Institute and held on UCD’s campus.

On behalf of the European Health Economics Association, we are happy to announce that the 9th EuHEA PhD Conference will take place August 29-31, 2022 at National University of Ireland Galway.

Economists (and more broadly social scientists) are increasingly focusing on the measurement and causes of inequality in health. This reflects the concern that health inequality reflects social injustices, and it is also in response to the trend away from a narrow focus on income inequality to broader inequality in wellbeing analysis.

Introduction to Economic Evaluation short course

Health Economics Bristol (HEB) will be running “Introduction to Economic Evaluation” in February 2022, as part of the Bristol Medical School programme of short courses. The course provides an introduction to the theory and practice of economic evaluation in health and care. By the end of the course participants will have:

Data Visualisation and Health Econometrics

This workshop focuses on the principles and practical application of data visualisation and how statistical graphics can enhance applied econometric analysis and policy evaluation. Applications include econometric methods for health outcomes and health care costs that are used for prediction and forecasting, risk adjustment, resource allocation, technology assessment, and policy evaluation. Practical examples will show how these methods can be applied and the workshop outlines a grammar of graphics in Stata.
