1) PhD studentship at HERU. Health Economics Research Unit (HERU), University of Aberdeen
 
Applications are sought for a three and half year, full-time, studentship to be based at the Health Economics Research Unit (HERU) and the Rowett Institute at the University of Aberdeen. The PhD project will examine'The role of economic factors and price incentives on the purchase of discretionary foods'. The aim is to build up the evidence base around current policies to tackle obesity by undertaking economic analysis of existing longitudinal household data collected within Scotland and the rest of the UK.
 
The project is funded through the Rural and Environment Science and Analytical Services Division (RESAS) of the Scottish Government and will commence in October 2023. The supervisors are Professor Paul McNamee (HERU, University of Aberdeen), Dr Cesar Revoredo-Giha (SRUC), and Dr Ben McCormick (Rowett Institute, University of Aberdeen).

2) Senior Health Economist Research Fellow

The NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre (CTC) within the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney is looking for a high-caliber Senior Research Fellow to play a key role in realizing its strategic objectives in Health Economics research. The incumbent will conduct within-trial and modelled economic evaluations, quality of life and value of information analysis across a range of applied areas. S/he will independently develop their own applied or methodological research interests, lead competitive grant applications, and write scholarly papers for publication in high quality medical or economics journals.
 
This position will involve project management, research, and communication with our stakeholders, including clinicians, health policymakers, hospital executives, and consumers, to ensure that project aims are met. This position can either be full-time or part-time, for a fixed term of up to 4 years, with renewal subject to funding and business need.

The incumbent will have a focus on developing discrete choice experiments (DCEs) in health economics through a mixed methods approach and contribute to projects to test and improve the validity of DCEs and related stated preference methods. They will independently develop their own applied or methodological research interests, lead competitive grant applications, and write scholarly papers for publication in high quality medical or economics journals.
 
This position will involve project management, research, and communication with our stakeholders, including clinicians, health policymakers, hospital executives, and consumers, to ensure that project aims are met. We are seeking an outstanding researcher and educator to join the Department of Health Services Research & Policy as a Health Economist with an interest in conducting economic appraisals of health and social care interventions utilising trial data. The successful applicant will have established expertise and a strong research portfolio in conducting health economic evaluations that make use of clinical trial data. 
The successful candidate will be expected to provide intellectual leadership and help drive the development of this strategically important area of research. They will drive the development of health economic appraisal alongside trial data at LSHTM. In addition, they will be expected to take a leadership role within the LSHTM-Clinical Trials Unit and the pan-School Global Health Economics (GHECO) Centre.  

The post is full-time 35 hours per week, 1.0 FTE and permanent.  The salary will be on the Professorial scale (C, Bii & Bi) in the range of Grade £69,254 - £109,794 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting).

5) The Nuffield Department of Population Health (NDPH) at the University of Oxford Fellowships (Closing Wed 31 May 23)

The Nuffield Department of Population Health (NDPH) at the University of Oxford is currently offering a range of Fellowships, including:
 
• Early career Fellowships £35,308 –£37,386 p.a. (i.e. applicants within 6 months of completion of a PhD);
• Intermediate Fellowships: £35,308 - £43,155 p.a. (applicants should have a relevant PhD, and significant postdoctoral experience with high-impact research);
• Senior Fellowships  £44,414 - £52,841 p.a. (applicants with an established track record of research leadership and be an author of high-impact papers).
These fellowships provide up to three years of support for suitably experienced individuals to develop an independent research area (including health economics) that enhances population health research in Oxford. The Intermediate and Senior Fellowships support some research programme costs, including a research assistant if required.
