We are seeking an individual with an outstanding track record of research in health economics and health policy. The appointee will provide senior-level leadership in health economics research within CHE and the University. The posts will spend 50% of their time in the NIHR Research Design and Support (RDS) Service and 50% in the Health Economics Unit based in the Division of Rehabilitation and Ageing. In the Health Economics Unit the successful candidates will work on a range of projects both new and existing. These will include a NIHR Programme Grant (ROWTATE): A Multicentre Research Programme to Enhance Return to Work after Trauma; a EME funded study BRIGhTMIND, Randomised double-blind controlled trial of connectivity guided theta burst transcranial magnetic stimulation versus repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation for treatment resistant moderate to severe depression; a NIHR RfPB MiPain - a RCT comparing intravenous Morphine with intravenous Paracetamol for pain relief in patients presenting with acute fractured neck of femur to the Emergency Department: and play an active role in developing new research.
In the RDS role the successful candidates will provide expert methodological support and advice to researchers who are developing high quality applied health or social care research applications for submission to national peer reviewed funding streams. There will also be opportunities for the candidates to contribute to the delivery of short courses, workshops and seminars.
The candidates must have a PhD in health economics or with a major component in health economics. They will have evidence of applying health economics methods in the health care setting and a publication record in applied health economics. Training and skills in health economics modelling and trials are required and experience in the various health economic evaluation methods. Candidates must also have the ability to communicate well with researchers who have little or no knowledge of health economics. The posts will enable career development and the chance to demonstrate clear management and analytical skills to develop the role holders’ career.
