Dear Colleagues,

I would like to bring your attention to the Dynamics Days Conference to
be hosted by the Northwestern Institute on Complex Systems (NICO) on
January 4-7, 2010.

Dynamics Days is an annual conference on chaos and nonlinear dynamics.
Sessions will cover a broad range of topics, including granular
materials, time series analysis, non-equilibrium statistical physics,
pattern formation, self-organization, and fluid dynamics. This year we
are especially emphasizing theory and applications related to the
dynamics of complex systems and complex networks, ranging from
synchronization and cascading processes to the dynamics of biological
systems.

The invited participants include:

    -- David Campbell, Boston University
-- Predrag Cvitanovic, Georgia Institute of Technology
-- Robert Ecke, Los Alamos National Laboratory
-- Jean-Pierre Eckmann, University of Geneva
-- Ulrike Feudel, University of Oldenburg
    -- Daniel Gauthier, Duke University
-- Theo Geisel, MPI Dynamics and Self-Organization
-- Raymond Goldstein, University of Cambridge
-- Peter Grassberger, University of Calgary
    -- Dirk Helbing, ETH, Zurich
    -- Hans Herrmann, ETH, Zurich
-- Frank Julicher, MPI Physics of Complex Systems, Dresden
-- Natalia Komarova, University of California, Irvine
-- Holger Kantz, MPI Physics of Complex Systems, Dresden
    -- Fred MacKintosh, Vrije University
-- Jose Onuchic, University of California, San Diego
    -- Julio Ottino, Northwestern University
-- Juan Parrondo, Complutense University of Madrid
    -- Itamar Procaccia, Weizmann Institute
    -- Jeffrey Rogers, DARPA
    -- Mary Silber, Northwestern University
    -- Sara Solla, Northwestern University
    -- Steven Strogatz, Cornell University
-- Harry Swinney, The University of Texas, Austin
    -- Andreas Trabesinger, Nature Physics
    -- Jonathan Widom, Northwestern University

The most important deadlines are:

Abstracts: November 10, 2009
Acceptance : November 18, 2009
Registration: December 14, 2009
Lodging: December 14, 2009

Partial financial support will be provided to a selection of students
and postdoctoral researchers. Women and researchers from
underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply.

For more information, please visit the conference website at

I hope to see many of you in Chicago in January, and will appreciate if
you can help spread the word about the conference among other potential
participants.

Best regards,

Adilson E. Motter
