Dear Colleagues,

I would much appreciate if you could distribute this announcement among
possible candidates. In particular I am looking for postdoctoral
candidates interested in soft matter, molecular fluids, nano and bio
solutions, and non-equilibrium statistical mechanics.

Research Scientist in ``Molecular Fluids of Interest in Biological
Physics: Theory and Simulations''.

Departament de Fisica Fonamental (Complex Matter Group)
Universitat de Barcelona

Salary: about 35,667 Euros including social security, corresponding to
27,000 Euros before taxes (net salary depends on age and marital status).

Fixed term appointment for 1 year starting as soon as possible.

Applications are invited for a 1 year Postdoctoral position to carry
out research on molecular fluids at biological interfaces and under
confinement. The successful candidate is expected to produce independent
and original research in the area of non-equilibrium statistical physics
and computer simulations of condensed phases, including the development
and application of non-equilibrium theory and simulations to investigate
aqueous solutions and aqueous interfaces involving nanomaterials and

A PhD in Physical Sciences, Chemistry, Materials Science or a related
discipline and experience in a closely related area is essential.
Candidates that are during the process of defending their PhD thesis
should present an official document with the scheduled defense date.

Applicants should have experience in the development and use of
equilibrium and/or non-equilibrium statistical physics and/or
computer simulation methods (Classical Molecular Dynamics and Monte
Carlo), including atomistic and mesoscopic techniques. Good knowledge of
FORTRAN 95 and/or C, Unix and a proven publication track record are

The ideal candidate has strong motivation and ability to communicate
work inside a team; fit in a young and productive atmosphere; high
degree of understanding and ability to work in cross-field projects.

The selected candidate will work at the Complex Matter Group of the
Department of Fundamental Physics, University of Barcelona, within
internationally recognized scientific collaborations in Spain, Europe
and USA. For more informations consult the groups web site

Planned date for interviews and selection: 10th - 15th September 2010.

Informal inquiries, including a CV, publication list and two possible
names and addresses for letter of references, may be made to Prof.
Giancarlo Franzese ([log in para visualizar]). Please send only PDF or TXT files.

Closing Date: Review of applications will begin on 3 September 2010
and continue until the position is filled.
