Dear Giancarlo,
[...]
I have a bit of an urgent opportunity that may be interesting for one of
your students. In the next few weeks or so, our faculty will be
advertising around 40 (I think) PhD scholarships. These are funded by a
specific programme whereby the *student* will write their own research
proposal for their PhD project. They will do so within a given topic,
choosing from a list collected from the professors of the faculty.
I have submitted one such topic on simulating biomolecular corona
formation. This would be done in collaboration with Patrick Onck (also
at our faculty). If you know someone who might be interested in doing
this, please let them and me know, and we may take it from there!
There is some urgency, because most likely the advertisement will be
posted soon and it is likely to be open only for a fairly limited amount
of time. Furthermore, the student absolutely must start by September 1st
2020, which implies that they must have finished their MSc by then (they
don't necessarily have to have their diploma, but should have finished
everything, basically just be waiting for the diploma).
As you may notice, there is quite a lot of unknowns. Indeed, I should
stress that I am not 100% certain of details, conditions and even
exactly how this is going to happen. Some of what I wrote above may thus
be incorrect. We simply don't know (there is a political and historical
reason for this situation). I think we will only find out all the
details when the positions are actually advertised, but we have,
nevertheless, been told to start finding interested students ASAP, to be
ready.
Still, I think it is a good opportunity! Please do let me know if you
know someone,
Best,
Christoffer
