Post-Doctoral Position: Atomistic Modeling of Chemical Activation and
Hydrogen Adsorption on Nanoporous Carbons

Available immediately: We are seeking a talented post-doctoral researcher
to work in the area of atomistic modeling of chemical activation of
nanoporous carbons for hydrogen adsorption. The project involves using
both quantum mechanical and statistical mechanical modeling techniques to
characterize a new experimental activation process that has been shown to
dramatically increase hydrogen uptake on single walled carbon nanotubes.
Modeling of hydrogen adsorption on chemically modified nanoporous sorbents
will also be undertaken. The position will involve close collaboration
with experimentalists at the National Energy Technology Laboratory. The
initial appointment will be for one year with a possibility of renewal.
The position will be at the University of Pittsburgh, working with
Professor J. K. Johnson.

The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical
Engineering, Condensed Matter Physics, or a related field. A demonstrated
expertise in using both ab initio electronic structure methods and Monte
Carlo and/or molecular dynamics statistical mechanical simulation
techniques is also required. Experience with Linux/Unix and ability to
write statistical mechanical simulation codes are highly valued.
