We have a great opportunity for a highly motivated Research Associate or Senior Research Associate in Health Economics to join a team engaged in conducting research on the prevention and management of HIV-infection and non-communicable diseases in Africa. The role will support the economics aspects for the research partnership across a portfolio of studies and clinical trials.
The research group is funded by the UK National Institute of Health Research and by a Horizon 2020 award from the European Union until the end of 2022. • Develop and co-ordinate a programme of research on health economics for the Research Partnership for the Control of Chronic Diseases in Africa: RESPOND- AFRICA,

• Conduct basic analyses of economics data and where needed liaise with statisticians, and others for more complex analyses and modelling.
• Contribute to evidence synthesis and to do systematic reviews on NCDs or HIV care to support new proposals
• Build long-term relations with partners in HIV and NCDs research in the UK and in Africa and to contribute to building of human capacity in this area
• Contribute to LSTM’s postgraduate teaching and research programme

The Institute of Lifecourse Development (ILD) launched in 2019 and is developing health economics capacity to support its research activities. We are recruiting a health economist to work alongside current ILD members, particularly Professor Paul McCrone, Professor Rosana Pacella (ILD Director), and the leads of the seven ILD centres. This post would suit candidates newly qualified from MSc courses as well as those with recent experience of applied health economic research.
The postholder will work on different research studies funded by external bodies such as NIHR, the Wellcome Trust and the Medical Research Council. The studies will include randomised controlled trials with a cost-effectiveness component, modelling studies, and analyses of routine data.
It is essential that the postholder have an MSc or equivalent in health economics or a related subject. They should also have experience of applied health economic research and be proficient in quantitative analyses.

Research Consultants (October Start)
We are looking to recruit two Research Consultants to commence work in October 2021 following completion of an MSc in Health Economics. Our team is currently working remotely and will be reviewing our approach in line with Government guidance. We are a health economics research and consulting company owned by, and based at, the University of York. We provide consultancy and research to a wide range of public and private sector bodies.
The roles have an initial training period to give you the opportunity to transfer your knowledge from your MSc into practical experience. The training modules are based on real world projects and will develop your economic modelling and evaluation skills.
After completion of your training period your main responsibilities will involve:
· Responsibility for specific elements within larger projects under the supervision of senior staff. The range of research will be wide and include economic modelling, economic assessment of public health interventions, economic assessment of new products to be introduced into the NHS, demand and supply modelling and economic assessment of service redesign.
· Critique economic analyses submitted to HTA bodies, and report directly to those bodies on the strengths and weaknesses of alternative approaches.
· Critically review published economic models to inform the development of de novo economic models.
· Undertake data analysis, including, individual patient level data, survival curve fitting and stochastic modelling.
· Carry out quality assurance review of models developed both within the company and for external clients.
· Attend public health advisory committees, meetings with private sector clients, clients’ staff and NHS staff.
· Literature reviewing, including identification and retrieval of relevant quantitative data from publications and other sources.

We are advertising two 4 year post-doctoral/research fellow positions to study how schools and workplaces invest in mental wellbeing. The post-holders will be key members of the new Wellcome Trust funded WISE (Wellbeing Investments in Schools and Employers) project, led by Prof Hareth Al-Janabi. They will generate models of decision-making processes, investigate how schools and workplaces can be best supported to make equitable and efficient investments, and develop new research methods for studying how resources are allocated in organisations.
The two research fellows will each have responsibility for a project work package. They will develop relationships with schools, employers, and policy-makers, conduct in-depth primary and secondary research, and play an important role in ensuring the project delivers real research advances. They will be based within the Health Economics Unit at the Institute of Applied Health Research, with strong connections through the project, to the Institute of Mental Health, as well to our national and international collaborators. We are keen to encourage applications from those with experience in public policy or qualitative research, who could apply their skills to this topic. These are exciting opportunities for an early-career researcher to advance our practical and intellectual understanding of how organisations invest in mental wellbeing.
