Journal of Statistical Mechanics: Theory and Experiment (JSTAT)

Following the success of Journal of High Energy Physics
http://jhep.sissa.it - impact factor of 6.1 in 2003), and
Journal of Cosmology and Astroparticle Physics
(http://jcap.sissa.it), Institute of Physics (IOP - a non-profit
organization) and the International School for Advanced studies
(SISSA, Trieste), launched on January 19th 2004 the online journal
JSTAT (https://jstat.sissa.it).

JSTAT has a very broad scope, it is interdisciplinary and covers the
following topics:

- Exact results
- Low-dimensional quantum mechanics and quantum field theory
- Phase transitions and critical phenomena
- Non-equilibrium processes
- Granular matter, hydrodynamic instabilities, turbulence, complex
fluids
- Surfaces, interfaces, growth processes
- Disordered systems and glassy matter
- Soft condensed matter
- Statistical mechanics of complex materials
- Applications in biological physics, genomics
- Information theory, combinatorial optimization, graphs and networks
- Collective phenomena in economic and social systems
- New applications of statistical mechanics

Being an online journal:

- JSTAT has a fully electronic reviewing process, which assures
authors a fast response. The total number of papers on November 1st
2004 is: submitted 190, accepted 81, rejected 55. The average time
from submission to first editor’s decision (excluding not suitable
and withdrawn papers) is currently 34 days.

- Authors can display "non-traditional" journal materials such as
simulations, sets of data and videos.

JSTAT is a journal for scientists run by scientists. The members of
the Editorial Board take full responsibility for the submitted letters
and papers.

Subscriptions will be at a substantially lower price than traditional
journals. JSTAT is free of charge in 2004 and will stay free for
developing and low income countries.
