PROJECT TITLE: CHEERS - Producing novel non-plant biomass feedstocks and bio-based products through upcycling and the cascading use of brewery side-streams. CORDIS ID: 101060814.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The CHEERS project aims to revalorise under-utilised or waste by-streams from the brewing industry for subsequent conversion into five high value-added industrial bio-products through a biorefinery approach. 
Task to be performed include: basic and detailed engineering of pilot plants. Design, construction, and operation of a lab-scale bioreactor for the enrichment of methanotrophic communities. Operation of pilot plants at Lleida (Spain). Preparation of reports/papers and presentations. Other project-related tasks. 

DURATION: 15/02/2025 - 31/08/2026 

MONTHLY GROSS SALARY: €1,967 (< 4-year PhD) - €2,394 (> 4-year PhD)

REQUIREMENTS: 
• Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Biotechnology.
• PhD in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or similar.
• Oral and written communication skills in English.
• Candidates should be motivated by research and professional development, with a serious and committed approach to their work responsibilities.
• Driving license.
