An Introduction to Policy Evaluation for Public Health

If you are interested in evaluating public health interventions but unsure of the statistical techniques needed, then this course is for you!

For PhD, MPhil and MD students, researchers, public health trainees and professionals and anyone whose work involves data analysis
Course outline: 
o   Statistical techniques to evaluate public health interventions and policy
o   Basic economic concepts to help frame questions
o   Factors to consider in estimation models
o   Interpreting statistical results and questions to ask when reading public health papers
o   Accurate interpretion of results when evaluating policy including controlling for factors that impact on your ability to estimate causal impact of policy and/or interventions
o   Key UK datasets for evaluating public health policy and interventions
o   Estimation techniques for policy evaluation - setting up models, interpreting results and the strengths and weaknesses of each approach
o   Following the course, put your new knowledge to the test, by setting up a hypothetical policy evaluation scenario online
o   5 CPD points (Faculty of Public Health)
