This important post sits within the University of Strathclyde’s International Public Policy Institute and its research-based Centre for Health Policy. The Centre for Health Policy, chaired by Sir Harry Burns (formerly Chief Medical Officer of Scotland and a member of the Scottish Government’s Council of Economic Advisers), focuses on three key health challenges: how to fund healthcare delivery set against increasing expectations and demand; how to reduce health inequalities while improving population health; and how to design and deliver healthcare to meet the needs of key groups (e.g. children, young adults, older people). The successful candidate will add a strong analytic perspective to the work of the Centre and integrate work across the Centre’s policy challenges.  The post holder will work with members of the Centre to identify and analyse policy interventions that meet the challenges, critically and rigorously appraise evidence and live policy interventions to help inform and influence policy. Such interventions might be early-years interventions, helping children from disadvantaged backgrounds to live flourishing and productive lives; or ones that enable health and social care to work together to more effectively and efficiently to support people with multiple complex needs. Successful candidates will: combine analytic rigour with an ability to communicate policy findings succinctly at the highest levels of government; be comfortable working in a multidisciplinary environment; have the intellectual maturity to work productively with members of the Centre from different disciplinary perspectives.  Although rooted in Scotland, the Centre is international in outlook and has several international collaborations with universities such as NYU and Yale in the US, with the WHO, and with leading European centres, such as the Centre for Health Economics Research at the University of Southern Denmark; the successful candidate will be expected to build on and strengthen these relationships.

2) Researcher in Agro-food Economics

Working schedule: Fulltime (37.5 hours per week, morning and afternoon)
Level: Researcher F following IRTA’s R+D+I job scale
Salary: 28,897.32 euro per year before taxes (Following regulation DL 3/2010).

Specific functions:
- To participate in the implementation of research projects and contracts in the field of agro-food economics.
- To contribute to uptake R+D+I economic funds from public institutions (competitive calls)
- To publish scientific papers and reports based on the research activity in Impact factor Journals related to Agro-food economics, applied economics and economic analysis.
- To contribute to develop research relationships with other researchers belonging to national and international research centers and universities both from the socioeconomic area or from other research disciplines related to the agro-food sector

Requirements:
- PhD in Economics, Applied Economics or Agricultural Economics
- Experience in participating in national and/or European projects from competitive calls
- At least 4 publications in Impact factor journals (ISI, SCOPUS)
- Working knowledge of English (Knowledge of Spanish is not compulsory)

Specific merits:
- Good knowledge of quantitative methods (econometric models, time series econometric and/or mathematical programming tools) applied to modeling agricultural and food policies and markets
- Experience in using agricultural and food databases at local, regional, national, European and international levels.
- Experience in getting primary information: surveys, questionnaires, deep interviews, Focus groups, etc.


Skills:
- Quality of both oral and written communication skills on research results to a wider audience
- Ability for collaborative work
- Ability to interact with other researchers and to implement strategic alliances with other research centers and universities
- Ability to participate in multidisciplinary projects.

This post offers an exciting opportunity for an individual with training in health economics with a particular interest in randomised controlled trials, to develop their career as an academic health economist. The post is available full-time until September 2016, in the first instance, but part-time applicants will be considered. 

The successful applicant will join the Health Economics at University of Bristol (HEB) team within the School of Social and Community Medicine. The School offers excellent professional development and has a strong track record of attracting research funding and excellent results in the last REF exercise.
The research assistant will be involved in the conduct, analysis, and interpretation of the cost-effectiveness aspects of three ongoing trials and will write up the results for publication under the supervision of a senior health economist. Candidates will need enthusiasm, excellent numeracy and writing skills, and a keenness to work within multi-disciplinary teams to develop and conduct high quality research.

5)  Research Fellow in Economic Evaluation, CRD, University of York , UK

Research Fellow in Economic Evaluation, CRD, University of York 

CRD specialises in evidence synthesis, producing best evidence to inform policy and practice decisions across a wide range of health interventions.

We wish to appoint skilled and motivated Research Fellows in Health Economics to work mainly within health technology assessment and contribute to the NIHR Technology Assessment Reviews (TAR) programme. The successful candidate will work with health economists within CRD and the Centre for Health Economics (CHE). They will also contribute to other CRD HTA projects, incorporating decision analytic modelling and evidence synthesis, including network meta-analysis and statistical analysis of individual participant data, and to methods development.

Candidates should have a Masters level qualification in health economics. We will be pleased to receive applications from candidates who wish to focus on health economics research and from those willing and interested in combining evidency synthesis with economic evaluation.
 
Salary: £30,434 - £37,394 a year.  The posts are available immediately on a full or part-time basis (minimum of three days per week) and are fixed-term for a period of three years.

We are seeking to appoint a researcher with excellent analytical skills to contribute to our programme of economic evaluation of healthcare technologies. The post is designed to allow participation in a variety of projects, and will facilitate the development of expertise in cost-effectiveness analysis using clinical trial data and decision modelling. Current projects include evaluations of: increased seven-day working of medical specialists in NHS hospitals; pulmonary rehabilitation following hospital admissions for COPD; a weight loss intervention for diabetes; and surgical techniques for treating cardiac arrhythmia. If appointed at Research Fellow level, the successful candidate will also be expected to develop and conduct methodological research.

All applicants should have a first degree and postgraduate qualification with a significant health economics component. For appointment at Research Fellow level you will also require a PhD or equivalent experience in an appropriate discipline. Candidates with a doctoral qualification or equivalent experience in related quantitative subjects (e.g. operational research, medical statistics) are also encouraged to apply.
