1) 2-year RA/RF post @ LSHTM closing: 21 June 2021 / economic evaluation for NTDs in Ghana & Ethiopia

It is recruiting a Research Assistant or Research Fellow in Health Economics to work on economic evaluations in Ghana and Ethiopia of interventions to improve the lives of people with severe stigmatising skin diseases. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to an under-researched area of major public health importance.
 
The postholder will work on the Skin Health Africa Research Programme (SHARP, www.lshtm.ac.uk/sharp), which is funded by the National Institute for Health Research. SHARP includes three economic evaluations conducted collaboratively by a team of health economists in the UK, Ethiopia, and Ghana. The postholder is expected to contribute to all three economic evaluation studies and SHARP’s overall research programme, but will play a particular role in decision analytic modelling for the integrated case finding and management interventions in collaboration with the other SHARP health economists and wider multi-disciplinary team. 
 
The postholder will be based in London at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). The appointment is full time, 1FTE commencing as soon as possible until 30 June 2023. Salary will be on the Academic Pathway, Grade 5 or 6, in the range £34,854 - £45,437 per annum, inclusive of London Weighting.

The NIHR ARC North Thames works together with its university, NHS, local authority, patient, charity and industry partners to identify the key health and care problems facing organisations in our partnership. We design innovative research in response and rapidly put findings into practice across our region and beyond. Working as a member of NIHR ARC North Thames Research Partnership Team the post holder will apply appropriate and innovative health economics and quantitative research methods to a range of experimental and observational study designs used in population health and health services research. The appointee will lead (Senior Research Fellow) / contribute to (Research Fellow) design and analyses of health economic research and evaluations; support and advise other researchers on appropriate choices of economic methods for evaluation of research projects; design and conduct research projects in collaboration with researchers and staff in healthcare/public health organisations.

We are advertising an exciting position at Bristol for a health economist with a strong quantitative background who wants to develop their skills and career in a long-term post. Deadline Monday 7th June!

You will join the Musculoskeletal Research Unit to work in many types of research projects in trauma and orthopaedics. It will include analysing large datasets for costing and modelling and performing economic evaluation alongside surgical trials in joint replacement. You will be able to tailor your skills and experience to your career interests. You will work closely with the wider Health Economics at the University of Bristol (HEB) research group and widen or deepen your knowledge in health economic methods, collaborate in projects in different clinical areas, write journal articles, travel to conferences, teach in post-graduate courses, and contribute to future grant applications.

We welcome applications from candidates looking for part-time or flexible working time positions. Candidates with less experience will be expected to have strong quantitative skills and familiarity with cost-effectiveness appraisal in the UK.

Nottingham Clinical Trials Unit (NCTU) is fully registered with the UK Clinical Research Collaboration and is based in the School of Medicine at the University of Nottingham.  Our unit is committed to conducting top quality, high impact multicentre clinical and economic evaluation trials across a wide range of health topics and settings, including orthopaedics, ophthalmology, adult and children’s mental health, stroke, rehabilitation, and others. Results from our research is published in high impact journals. 

Creation of a health economics team within the NCTU at Nottingham presents an opportunity to fully embed in an established academic clinical trials unit, whilst maintaining a clear health economic identity. In addition to collaborating on large randomised trials, the team will pursue topical research issues in health economics such as outcomes and the translation of health economics into health related areas. The post will enable career development and the chance to work with both health economists and experts in all aspects of clinical trials. The candidate must have the ability to communicate well with researchers who have little or no knowledge of health economics.

The Health Economics and Health Technology Assessment (HEHTA) team at University of Glasgow is a fast growing and vibrant team of researchers, who are dedicated to delivering research that has direct impact on clinical practice, population health and health policies at a national and international level. Our methodological expertise includes economic evaluation alongside trials, decision analytic modelling, evidence synthesis, population health economics, precision medicine, global HTA, medical statistics and qualitative evaluations. We are expanding and complementing our existing work in these fields and are seeking 2 high calibre candidates in the discipline of health technology assessment who can make a leading contribution to HEHTA’s portfolio of high quality and rigorous research.

Candidates will be able to manage multiple tasks while working effectively to maintain high standards and meet deadlines and will be expected to lead on presenting, writing of research publications and research proposals, as well as help manage and direct complex and challenging HTA projects. Successful candidates will be supported and encouraged to develop and formulate their own research grant proposals.
