The Gulbenkian Institute of Science (IGC) encourages theoretical
biophysicists with a strong track record to apply to the currently open
call for group leaders in theoretical quantitative biology.
IGC is a leading life-science research institution with a broad span of
topics including developmental biology, biomechanics, microbial ecology,
and immunology. This breadth provides an ideal environment for a
theorist to thrive. Currently IGC is promoting its theoretical
component, by hiring theory PIs, establishing a computing cluster, and
developing the PONTE post-doc program.
The comprehensive package for theory group leaders includes two post-doc
positions as well as funds to establish and run the group. Furthermore,
PIs have access to students that are funded via the local IBB PhD
program. The appointment and package run for an initial 5years period,
and will be extended for up to 9 years upon positive SAB evaluation.
