Por favor, distribuir entre posibles candidatos a beca predoctoral. Gracias.

PhD position in the Self-Organized Complexity and Self-Assembled Materials
group at the University of Barcelona

NON-EQUILIBRIUM PHENOMENA IN SOFT ACTIVE MATTER

The candidate will carry out mostly experimental work aimed at studying the
behavior of gels of cytoskeleton protein extracts under droplet
confinement, in contact with interfaces, or in microfluidic channels. In
the presence of ATP, the components of this material feature spontaneous
motion, leading to fascinating organized behavior.

The candidate will work in the Department of Materials Science and Physical
Chemistry at the University of Barcelona, within the framework of the
Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology in an multidisciplinary
environment that includes Physicists and Chemists, and will collaborate
with other PhD students and senior researchers in the development of
microfluidic devices, preparation and control of the active gels, and their
characterization based on the analysis of fluorescence and confocal
microscopy images.

The PhD position will be in the form of a 3 year fellowship funded by the
Spanish MINECO. Please, search “Formación doctores MINECO 2016” for the
details of the most recent call (in Spanish).

Requirements for the candidate: Master Degree in Physics, Chemistry, or
equivalent by September 2017.

Submission of the candidacy: before end of September 2017.

Starting of the contract: Fall 2017.
