Dear Colleagues,
The "Computational Fluid Dynamics: Modelling and Simulation" Group at the
Basque Center for Applied Mathematics (BCAM) in Bilbao, Spain, invites
applications for a 2-years postdoctoral position in mesoscopic modelling of
particle aggregation and marine snow formation.
The goal of this project is to use realistic numerical models of particle
aggregation to study how particle shape, Brownian motion and the activity
of microswimmers (i.e. algae and bacteria) affect the aggregation rate and
the formation of marine snow. We will approach this problem from a fluid
mechanics perspective and we will use the Rigid Multiblob framework to
build our models.
Applicants are expected to have a Ph.D. in engineering, physics or applied
mathematics. Candidates with a strong scientific background in fluid
dynamics at low Reynolds numbers and experience in soft matter modelling
are strongly encouraged to apply.

Deadline: July 26th 2019, 14:00 CET (UTC+1) .
