Dewey: -I checked the lost and found. No bookmarks.

Patron: -Bottom of the bookdrop?

Dewey: -Not there, either.

Patron: -Maybe an errant breeze deposited it into another book.

Dewey: -... How exactly would we FIND that?

Patron: -You start on the LEFT end of the stacks, I'll start on the RIGHT.

Una lectora ha perdido su punto de libro y pide a Dewey que la ayude a encontrarlo.

 

Dewey: -He mirado en objetos perdidos. No hay puntos de libro.

Usuaria: -¿En el fondo del buzón de libros devueltos?

Dewey: -Allí tampoco.

Usuaria: -Tal vez una brisa errante lo puso en otro libro.

Dewey: -...¿Cómo exactamente podríamos encontrarlo?

Usuaria: -Usted comienza por el extremo izquierdo de las estanterías, y yo empezaré por el derecho.

 

VOCABULARIO

 

lost and found [property] = objetos perdidos

an errant breeze = es una forma particular de hablar de esa lectora, no es un modismo como pueden ser por ejemplo éstos:

            to breeze in = entrar descuidadamente, sin esfuerzo, como Pedro por su casa

            to be a breeze = ser fácil

            in a breeze = en un momento

open stacks libraries = bibliotecas de acceso directo, con estanterías abiertas

to stack = apilar, hacer pilas o montones

to stock shelves = colocar productos en las estanterías

illusions = ideas equivocadas, sueños irreales. Ej.: I was under the illusion that he was in love with me, but all he wanted was my Harley Davidson

dreams, high aspirations = ilusiones
