Dos anécdotas reales sobre la visión que el público tiene de los
bibliotecarios:

One day while giving a student group of a tour of the library, I led the
class down the hallway past the staff room. The door was open and several
library staff members were taking their lunch break. One was heating
something on the stove and several others were eating at the table.
Gazing in at this domestic scene, one young student asked, -Where do the
librarians sleep?

Many people think a library is such a nice place to work that librarians
should volunteer their time.
The Library Director told several staff members that the paychecks were
ready for pick up in the office. A library patron overheard the remark and
in an amazed tone, said... -You mean you get paid to work here?

Un día, mientras ofrecía un recorrido por la biblioteca a un grupo de
estudiantes, los llevé por el pasillo pasando frente la sala de empleados.
La puerta estaba abierta, y varios miembros del personal de la biblioteca
estaban tomando su descanso para almorzar. Uno estaba calentando algo en la
estufa y varios otros estaban comiendo en la mesa.
Mirando esta escena doméstica, un joven estudiante preguntó: -¿Dónde
duermen los bibliotecarios?

Muchas personas piensan que la biblioteca es un lugar tan agradable para
trabajar que los bibliotecarios deberían ofrecer su tiempo como
voluntarios.
El director de la Biblioteca les dijo a varios miembros del personal que
los cheques de su sueldo estaban listos para recoger en la oficina. Un
usuario escuchó por casualidad el comentario y en un tono sorprendido dijo:
-¿Quiere decir que les pagan por trabajar aquí?
