*About this thematic section*

Hybrid intelligence (HI) represents the convergence of human intelligence
and artificial intelligence (AI), which is said to be the revolution of our
time comparable to the steam engine, electricity or the birth of the
internet (*Sheikh*; *Prins*; *Schrijvers*, 2023). In an increasingly
interconnected world, the integration of human and artificial capabilities
offers new opportunities to address complex challenges and improve the
efficiency and effectiveness of communication in various contexts,
including, and with special emphasis on, in the news (*López-García*, 2024).



Hybrid intelligence (HI) in communication covers a wide range of
applications, from automating routine tasks to improving decision making
and personalizing user experiences. HI systems can analyze large volumes of
data in real time, identify patterns and trends, and provide data-driven
recommendations, all while leveraging human creativity, intuition, and
judgment.



This monographic section focuses on two areas: On the one hand, the media
area, where HI is transforming the media in innovative and significant ways
(*Tejedor*; *Vila*, 2021). This integration, which raises many doubts and
challenges from the perspective of professional ethics (*Kim*, 2019;
*Porlezza*; *Ferri*, 2022; *Romeo*; *Griglié*, 2022), allows the media to
improve the efficiency, precision and personalization of their content,
offering more enriching experiences for both creators and consumers of
information without losing sight of the fact that journalistic practice is
what gives purpose, form, perspective, meaning and importance to
technology, and not the other way around (*Zelizer*, 2019; *Peña-Fernández*;
*Meso-Ayerdi*; *Larrondo-Ureta*; *Díaz-Noci*, 2023).



On the other hand, the thematic section focuses on the field of
communication technologies, tools through which AI-powered communication
platforms can improve interaction between users by providing more precise
and personalized responses while facilitating real-time creation and
collaboration processes, among others.



Among the preferred topics, those that, in relation to the areas described,
focus their research on will be selected:

·         Hybrid intelligence frameworks and models in communication.

·         Applications of hybrid intelligence in media and journalism.

·         Collaboration between journalists and AI.

·         Automation and efficiency.

·         Personalization of content.

·         Content creation.

·         Analysis and verification of information.

·         User interaction and participation.

·         Ethical and social implications of hybrid intelligence in
communication.

·         AI-powered communication tools and platforms.

·         User experience and interaction with hybrid intelligence systems.



This monographic section aims to analyze the current state of the
integration of hybrid intelligence in communication processes, particularly
in journalism, from a professional, ethical and technological point of view.

*Sobre esta sección temática*

La inteligencia híbrida (IH) representa la convergencia de la inteligencia
humana y la inteligencia artificial (IA), de la que se dice que es la
revolución de nuestro tiempo equiparable a la máquina de vapor, la
electricidad o el nacimiento de internet (*Sheikh*;* Prins*;* Schrijvers*,
2023). En un mundo cada vez más interconectado, la integración de
capacidades humanas y artificiales ofrece nuevas oportunidades para abordar
desafíos complejos y mejorar la eficiencia y efectividad de la comunicación
en diversos contextos, entre ellos, y con especial énfasis, en el
informativo (*López-García*, 2024).



La inteligencia híbrida (IH) en la comunicación abarca una amplia gama de
aplicaciones, desde la automatización de tareas rutinarias hasta la mejora
de la toma de decisiones y la personalización de experiencias de usuario.
Los sistemas de IH pueden analizar grandes volúmenes de datos en tiempo
real, identificar patrones y tendencias, y proporcionar recomendaciones
basadas en datos, todo ello mientras aprovechan la creatividad, intuición y
juicio humano.



Esta sección monográfica pone el foco en dos ámbitos. Por un lado, el
mediático, donde la IH está transformando los medios de comunicación de
maneras innovadoras y significativas (*Tejedor*;* Vila*, 2021). Esta
integración, que plantea muchas dudas y desafíos desde la perspectiva de la
ética profesional (*Kim*, 2019;* Porlezza*;* Ferri*, 2022;* Romeo*;*
Griglié*, 2022), permite a los medios mejorar la eficiencia, la precisión y
la personalización de sus contenidos, ofreciendo experiencias más
enriquecedoras tanto para los creadores como para los consumidores de
información sin perder de vista que el ejercicio periodístico es el que
otorga propósito, forma, perspectiva, significado e importancia a la
tecnología, y no al contrario (*Zelizer*, 2019;* Peña-Fernández*;*
Meso-Ayerdi*;* Larrondo-Ureta*;* Díaz-Noci*, 2023).



Por otro lado, la sección temática apunta al ámbito de las tecnologías de
la comunicación, herramientas mediante las cuales las plataformas de
comunicación impulsadas por IA pueden mejorar la interacción entre usuarios
proporcionando respuestas más precisas y personalizadas al tiempo que
facilitan los procesos de creación y colaboración en tiempo real, entre
otros.



Entre las temáticas preferentes, se seleccionarán las que, en relación a
los ámbitos descritos, centren sus investigaciones en:

·         Marcos y modelos de inteligencia híbrida en la comunicación.

·         Aplicaciones de la inteligencia híbrida en los medios de
comunicación y el periodismo.

·         Colaboración entre periodistas e IA.

·         Automatización y eficiencia.

·         Personalización de contenidos.

·         Creación de contenidos.

·         Análisis y verificación de la información.

·         Interacción y participación de los usuarios.

·         Implicaciones éticas y sociales de la inteligencia híbrida en la
comunicación.

·         Herramientas y plataformas de comunicación impulsadas por IA.

·         Experiencia del usuario e interacción con sistemas de
inteligencia híbrida.



Esta sección monográfica tiene como objetivo analizar el estado actual de
la integración de la inteligencia híbrida en los procesos comunicativos,
particularmente en los periodísticos, desde un punto de vista profesional,
ético y tecnológico.

aborden cualquiera de los temas anteriores o relacionados. Se valorará
especialmente el trabajo interdisciplinar que abarque más de una de esas

español, a elección del autor.

*Formato de referencias *

Los autores deben enviar la bibliografía en formato APA pero v., n., pp.

Muy importante: ¡no deben suprimirse segundos apellidos ni iniciales
intermedias de los autores!

Los nombres de los autores citados deben estar completos para que se les
asigne su correcto índice *h*.

*Evaluación*

Todos los artículos publicados en *EPI* son revisados por pares en doble
ciego por dos o más miembros del Consejo Científico internacional de la
revista, y otros revisores, siempre externos a la Editorial.
