PhD Position Available: Extracellular Vesicles as Nanovectors for Treating Brain Cancer and Other Human Diseases
The +Pec Proteomics Research Group (+PPRG), led by Dr. Xavier Gallart-Palau and Dr. Aida Serra at the Biomedical Research Institute of Lleida (IRBLleida, Spain), is actively seeking an enthusiastic and motivated young scientist to conduct the PhD in the field of extracellular vesicles (EVs)-based nanovectors for the treatment of brain cancers and other human diseases.
About Us:
The +PPRG group is a multidisciplinary team dedicated to applying next-generation clinical proteomics, mass spectrometry, biotechnology, and systems biology to uncover altered intercellular communication mechanisms associated with neuropathology and systemic pathologies. We prioritize bench-to-bedside research, focusing on further understanding the potential of EVs and their roles in the development of diagnostic, stratification, and clinical prognostic markers, as well as their application as highly biocompatible nanovectors in advanced therapeutic applications in the field of personalized medicine. For further information about the group, please visit our website. https://www.irblleida.org/en/research/45/pec-proteomics
Role Overview:
We are in search of a driven PhD candidate to contribute to our research on the use of EVs as nanovectors for the treatment of glioblastoma and other human diseases. This position presents an exceptional opportunity to broaden your skill set, enhance your research portfolio in systems biology, biotechnology, and molecular biology, and make substantive contributions to the field with broad-ranging implications. Further details on the project and PhD development plan will be provided only to preselected candidates. The predoctoral training will involve tasks such as EVs editing and loading, high-pressure liquid chromatography data acquisition and analysis, cell culture experiments, handling cancer animal models, bioinformatics-based data analysis, etc.. The candidate is expected to independently generate and compile scientific data and take leading roles in data dissemination, including conference participation and paper publication under the guidance of mentors and other team members.
Position requirements:
- Applicants should have an Official MSc degree or be enrolled in an Official Master’s during the upcoming term course 2024/2025. Candidates with a bachelor of at least 300 ECTs or equivalent are also welcome to apply.
- Only candidates with official degrees in the following areas will be considered: Health sciences, Biotechnology, Biomedicine, Neuroscience, Bioinformatics, Medicine, Biology, or highly related areas.
- Only candidates with the Bachelor/Master’s degree finished no earlier than 1st Jan 2019 are encouraged to apply.
- Candidates with Grade Point Average (GPA) lower than 7.5/10 will not be considered.
- Competence in English language is required.
- Publication(s) and demonstrable laboratory experience will be positively considered.
- Training course in laboratory animal science will be positively considered.
How to Apply:
If you are interested in this position, please send a copy of your CV, and a copy of your grade report showing the official GPA to Dr. Aida Serra ([log in para visualizar]) and Dr. Xavier Gallart-Palau ([log in para visualizar]).
