IRTA is currently seeking a highly motivated researcher to cover a vacancy focused on Immunopathogenesis of transboundary diseases in animal health, placing emphasis on the diagnosis and prevention of relevant viral diseases that affect swine. Acceptance of this position will entail the appointment on a permanent basis and implies the privilege of dedicating oneself to research activities and technology transfer, including outstanding participation as a member of the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH) classical swine fever (CSF) Reference Laboratory.

Job location: IRTA - CReSA (Barcelona)
Full-time position: 37.5 h/week
Terms of appointment: permanent full-time permanent position or full-time tenure track position subject to the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.
Salary: To be resolved according to the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.
Employee Benefits: 22 vacation days, 3 days of family & work conciliation, 45h of personal days, Friday afternoon off, Compressed Summer schedule from 15/06 to 15/09, Conciliation schedule.

Tasks and Responsibilites:
-Contribution to the activities of the research Program in the classical swine fever and related diseases research line, performing scientific and technical tasks, taking part in the planning and execution of the experiments to ensure the achievement of milestones of research projects.
-Carry out literature review, data collection and management, involving statistical analysis.
-Contribution to the scientific production of the research and innovation activities of the Program.
-Lead and actively contribute fund rising through the preparation and submission of project proposals for public competitive calls and for contracts with the private sector, as well reporting process, such as writing progress and final reports of research activities.
-Mentoring of BSc and MSc students and PhD candidates.
-Participation in national and international academic conferences.
-Participation and execution of activities in the World Organization for Animal Health classical swine fever Reference Laboratory.
-Active participation in the valorisation of scientific research.
-Identification of opportunities for cutting-edge research and innovation to address strategic priorities of the research line.
-Contribution to the teamwork and team-spirit in the research line and in the Animal Health Program, fostering collaboration and integration activities.

Required qualifications and experience:
-PhD in veterinary sciences, animal health, biomedical sciences or biotechnological sciences.
-Excellent academic research record on the "Pathogenesis and immunology of viral diseases", demonstrated by relevant scientific publications in the field of veterinary medicine, virology, or immunology.
-Experience in mentoring of students and/or PhD candidates.
-Experience in animal experiments and in vitro experiments with established cell cultures and primary cell cultures.
-Experience with virological and molecular biology research technologies, such as: virus production and titration, microscopy, PCR and sequencing techniques and immunology techniques, such as flow cytometry, functional studies.
-Experience in project writing to obtain research funding from various public funding agencies and private companies.
Desirable requirements
-Experience in other more advanced techniques such as cloning, CRISPR/Cas, transfections/transductions, infectious clones, RNAseq.
-Advanced immunology techniques applied to the study of the pathogenesis of viral infections.
-Experience and/or knowledge about the valorisation of scientific research.

Languages
-Proficiency in English
-Spanish and Catalan are valued.
