The research project, aims to enhance the production of high-value metabolites such as poliketides/non ribosomal peptides (PK/NRP), compounds with high pharmacological potential, using computational and synthetic biology techniques. The main tasks involved are: i) modeling the metabolism of PK/NRP-producing bacteria, ii) mining genomic databases for PK/NRP gene clusters, and iii) in silico design of the metabolism of multiple bacterial species, coupled with the development of optimal media for production using machine learning techniques.

Requirements: MS in Bioinformatics, Computer Science or similar. Experience in bacterial data analysis, Constraints-Based Metabolic Modeling, In-silico strain design and biochemistry will be highly valued.
