IRTA is currently seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Researcher with a PhD related to Pomology, focused on orchard fruit quality management under the effects of climate change, to join the Fruit Production Program.
We invite applications from ambitious candidates with relevant research experience and passion to conduct research and innovation activities.


Tasks and Responsibilities:
-Carry out research activities on Pomology focused on orchard fruit quality management under the effects of climate change, integrated in a multidisciplinary research team.
-Participate actively in the preparation of proposals for national and international public calls.
-Participate actively in contracted work with private companies.
-Contribute to the transfer of knowledge and technologies to the private sector.
-Contribute to dissemination activities related with the research line.
-Create synergies with other research lines at IRTA and in other research institutions or universities.


Required qualifications and experience:
-Ph.D. in Plant Science with an academic background on Agronomy, Biology or related discipline.
-Scientific experience in pomology research.
-Experience in statistical analysis.
-Sound computational skills with advanced user level of the Office package as well as data analysis software.
-Scientific experience publishing in peer‐review scientific journals.
-Experience in interacting with the agricultural sector and the scientific community in order to transfer knowledge and to gather their needs.
-Experience in collaborating in competitive projects regarding their research activities.
-Full driving license for Europe and travelling availability.

Desirable requirements:
-Experience in research activities regarding fruit quality and climate change.
-Knowledge of fruit industry concertation, technology transfer and fostering innovation added value.

Languages:
-Proficiency in English.
-Knowledge of Catalan, Spanish and French will also be valued.
