Centro de Fisica Teorica e Computacional da Universidade de Lisboa (http://cftc.cii.fc.ul.pt) Applications are sought for a postdoctoral position in theoretical and computational physics, to commence as soon as possible. The successful applicant will work in a project involving modelling of complex systems, at the Centro de Fisica Teorica e Computacional da Universidade de Lisboa. The objective is to develop computational tools to study spatially extended discrete dynamical processes, focussing on models of epidemic spread in finite populations and/or on-lattice protein folding simulations. Applicants should have a PhD in physics, applied mathematics, chemistry or engineering, with experience in scientific computing, preferably non-linear dynamics or statistical physics simulations. Experience of parallel computing will be a plus. The Centro de Fisica Teorica e Computacional da Universidade de Lisboa is located in a recently extended and renovated building, on the main campus in the north of the city. The Centro has excellent computing facilities and a very good library. Lisbon is a charming city with a medium to high cost of living. Salary is according to the University of Lisbon scale for post-docs (approximately 1500 euros per month). Reconduction for an additional year is possible. Applicants should send a CV and two letters of recommendation as soon as possible, but no later than August 30, 2004 to: Margarida Telo da Gama Centro de Fisica Teorica e Computacional da Universidade de Lisboa Av.
