The University of Surrey has very successfully embedded our Bibliometrics service over the last six years. This is a key post for the University and directly supports the Research Strategy and Executive Board. The previous post-holders have been experts in the field and we are looking for the next link in this chain to be able to take over the role and continue to develop the service and standards we have established.

With the mix of working directly with Executive Board members on deep analysis; supporting the University's Strategic Planning and Research and Innovation teams with REF preparation; helping all research leaders have a better handle on the Bibliometrics and Altmetric footprint of their unit(s); or helping researchers themselves understand the world of metrics, this role has a wide remit and directly impacts on all undertaking research. The University of Surrey is already well situated in our research culture but have major ambitions to raise our international standings, this post holder will be a key resource to the people making that happen.

The post sits in the Library and Learning Support Services directorate and the Open Research Team within the e-Strategy & Resources group. The Open Research team brings together experts in Open Access, Scholarly Publications, Research Data and of course Bibliometrics.

The post holder must have previous experience of Bibliometrics and be able to demonstrate that knowledge and skill in a number of ways to different audiences. You should have a high level of knowledge of the relevant statistical models used to support the science of output metrics alongside the ability to use the technologies used to find, collate and analyse results. You should also have excellent written skills when presenting strategic analysis to members of the Executive Board. The role also requires someone who is able to work independently and be self-motivating; however a great deal of the role requires collaboration so good interpersonal skills are also essential.

For an informal conversation about this role please contact Fiona Greig [log in para visualizar].

In addition to salary you will receive a generous annual leave entitlement and excellent development opportunities. Benefits package includes generous salary package, generous pension scheme, child care assistance and discounted membership to our world-renown Surrey Sports Park.

Kind Regards
