Postdoctoral position in mathematical modelling of Covid19 epidemiology We are seeking a post-doc to work within the Department of Visceral Surgery & Medicine, Bern University Hospital, on a project to identify strategies to protect healthcare professionals during pandemics. This post-doc position will be part of an international collaboration between Switzerland (Bern University Hospital) and Italy (ICTP-The Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical physics, www.ictp.it<http://www.ictp.it> ) to address key questions on how to organize a workforce using data from the first and potential second waves of the Covid19 outbreak. The project will involve mathematical modelling of epidemiology, numerical simulations, statistical analysis and data integration. Position: Post-doc research position, available for 2 years. Candidate Requirements: • PhD in mathematics, physics, computer science, computational biology, statistics or any related fields. Candidates with a biological background will have to be able to demonstrate expertise in programming. • Good communication skills in English. • Ability to work independently in an international environment. • Expertise in at least one programming language, such as C, Matlab, Python or R. • Knowledge in topics such as stochastic processes, epidemiology and data analysis are desirable.
