please distribute this announcement of an available PhD position (3 years) in the group Theoretical Physics/Complex Systems at the University Oldenburg
(Germany) to interested students or other colleagues.
The position (ESR15) is posted as part of the
CriticalEarth project - “Multiscale Critical Transitions in the Earth System - funded through the Horizon 2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions programme (Innovative Training Network) under
Grant number 956170 (https://www.criticalearth.eu/climate/)
The topic of the PhD project at Oldenburg is on
How trends and fluctuations mask critical transitions in high-dimensional multistable systems possessing long transients.
This PhD project will deal with the question why abrupt critical transitions discovered for parts of the climate system often do not show up in large climate simulations.
This PhD project will study the role of slowly varying driving forces of climate change, fluctuations of environmental variables and the spatial resolution of different processes in the climate system.
Applications can be submitted until the position is filled (the selection process starts earliest after the current deadline for applications on March 7, 2021). Details
on the announcement and the application procedure are available at https://euraxess.ec.europa.eu/jobs/599933
Thank you very much.
