The School of Infant Mental Health offers a Diploma in Parent Infant Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy which is available to study online or in-person at our North London premises. (The in-person training may be subject to COVID-19 restrictions.)

Come along to our open evening to hear more about our training in this fascinating and rewarding field of work. Help to deliver early interventions that help to promote the healthy development of the child. Our graduates work in private practice and a variety of early years settings.

This is the only training in this modality that is recognised by the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).



Psychotherapist and child


We encourage applications from people with a wide range of backgrounds and experience. We may also be able to offer credits for relevant prior training and experience.

This is a unique training that attracts trainees from elsewhere in the UK and from overseas. (We currently have trainees who live elsewhere in Europe and in Africa, Asia, South America and Australiasia.)

The Parent Infant Centre

The Parent Infant Centre is located in North London and is a place for parents to turn to when they are worried about their infant, child or adolescent.

The Centre includes:

The Parent Infant Clinic, which provides a full range of child psychotherapy, parent infant psychotherapy and related therapies, such as music therapy and paediatric physiotherapy.

The School of Infant Mental Health, which delivers professional training in Parent Infant Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy and a range of courses in topics related to infant mental health. Many of the School's courses are also available online.
