De posible interes. =============================================================================================================================================================== Dear Colleagues, I have an opening for a PhD position in CNR Institute of Complex Systems (ISC), Rome, Italy Title of the project: Ultra-low-crosslinked and hollow microgels as candidates for cluster-forming fluids and glasses Supervisor: Emanuela Zaccarelli, [log in para visualizar] The project will focus on molecular dynamics simulations of microgel particles, at ultra-low-crosslinking or with hollow structure, at different packing fractions to uncover their phase behavior, dynamics and slowing down close to an arrested (glassy) state. Interpenetration leading to cluster formation will be studied in detail to understand the role of ultrasoft interactions. The research will be performed in the Physics Department of Sapienza University of Rome, where the CNR ISC unit is operative. The PhD Project is funded by the EU Doctoral Network QLUSTER (HORIZON-MSCA-DN-2021, 101072964). The candidate should have an MSc in Physics, Chemistry or related areas at the time of recruitment, with preferred background in statistical physics, soft matter and computer simulations. Some theoretical background in liquid and glassy state theory as well as experience in using simulation packages (GROMACS, LAMMPS…) would be preferred. Basic knowledge of programming is essential. Fluency in English (written and oral) is required. Recruitment date will be 1st of November 2023. The duration of the PhD contract will be 3 years. The gross salary (before taxes) per year will be approximately 38000 (without family allowance) or 43000 euros (with family allowance). Please note that, according to the mobility rules established by the EU, the candidates must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc) in Italy for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately before the recruitment date. Candidates not fulfilling this rule are not eligible. Interested candidates should contact Emanuela Zaccarelli ([log in para visualizar]).
